I had a nice long weekend visiting my parents in North Carolina and will be leaving to head back to Baltimore this afternoon. Coming here always includes sitting by the fire and wading through the treasure trove of family heirlooms, keepsakes, and photographs. I never tire of looking at photos of my parents and grandparents as youngsters. Here are a handful of images that I’m bringing home as inspiration.
Images: My dad’s Mickey Mouse baby spoon from 1935, Dad’s Washington & Lee Crest “Not Unmindful of the Future”, Dad’s W&L diploma 1956, cocktail hour, some handsome decor, my dad is a darner, my mom and cousin Deborah in Nantucket 1966, a painting my mom did in her youth, my parents on a visit to France in 1977, my favorite movie from childhood, my mother’s father at around age 18, and my mom, cousin Catharine, and cousin Deborah in Nantucket, 1966.

I love the picture of your parents! I’m planning to visit them this weekend.
