I can hardly wait to show you my Christmas decorations, but I promised myself I would do a Thanksgiving post before a Christmas post, so here we are.  I know the rest of America has moved on to December, but I’m still trying to catch up with myself!  So let’s rewind just for a moment and think back to a few weeks ago when we were all enjoying turkey and reflecting on all the things we are grateful for in our lives…

R and I hosted a combination of our families for a total of 11.  Our menu included the basics- turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and apple pie, as well as the Filipino basics- Pancit, Lumpia, and Empanadas.  Sautéed Brussels sprouts were the wildcard that we spontaneously added alongside all the “traditional” dishes.  (Perhaps a new tradition is born!?)  Robert, his mom, and my mom did most of the cooking, while the bulk of my job was setting the table and bar.  I do love any opportunity I have to pull out the family silver and our best wine glasses!  And…what a treat to do some hand lettering for my own table for a change!

It was a great day, but flew by.   I barely had a moment to stop and think about all that I am grateful for.  But hey, I don’t need one holiday a year to remind me…  I am well aware of all that brings joy to my life.  My dear husband, family and friends, my sweet Georgia, my cozy home, microbrews, and instant Netflix.  I am a lucky, lucky girl!

(Robert’s sister, Gemma,  got this awesome shot while R was carving the turkey.  Her caption was “Make sure you do it right!”  That is most likely exactly what I was expressing.  I love it!)
