Georgia Tech Football

vintage football

The last few years, I have really loved vintage sports photos, like this one that I spotted last weekend at an awesome little shop in Chapel Hill, Branching Out.  After some digging, I found two of my very own family vintage sports photos.  Below is my Great Grandfather on my Mother’s Mother’s side, Ed Hart (on the right), and his brother John.  Approximately 1904 at the Mulberry Athletic Club in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

And below, is my grandfather on my father’s side, A. Moody Burt (2nd row, 2nd from the left), playing Center for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 1909 and 1910.

While doing a little internet research on Georgia Tech Football history, I found some other awesome photos, but sadly, none from 1909 or 1910.  This is the 1911 team, I recognize a few faces.

And lastly, here is an amazing pic of the 1906 team:

    A. Moody Burt, a Georgia footballer! Had no idea. In fact, I was under the misimpression that he didn’t get to Georgia until after medical school. Thanks for the info and for the marvellous picture. Happy New Year, ML – Mary B.
